1. Short Synopsis
What if there is more to life than what people are seeing? What if people could break through the barriers that keep them in their current state of suffering into the full glory of their desires? What happens when people wake up to the possibility of living the life they only dared to dream? How do we master this thing called life? Do we have an inner guidance system?
Michal Abney embarked on a quest where he confronted these questions in order to eliminate his suffering. This documentary vulnerably explores his journey from his search outside to discovering the power within. Abney stepped outside of himself while on a “work” retreat in Sedona, AZ. It was there that his spirit resonated with the red rocks, the evergreen vegetation, and the energetic vortices where he finally found the courage to articulate his own internal conversation—a conversation he’s wrestled with since he was a small child rural Missouri.
With no experience, no manual, and no historic professional precedence, Abney was drawn to return to Sedona guided only by his “Spiritual Instinct.” Initially, he believed he was there to film a television pilot featuring spiritual workers, but it was soon evident to him that the “project” was about him...and the answers to the questions.
The documentary unfolds through Abney’s story of healing, and the extraordinary journey of four other individuals striving to break free of their own suffering. These ordinary people dared to have an extraordinary breakthrough, and like Abney, began drawing from those around them that were teachers, healers, and coaches.
“How do we master this thing called life?” As Abney and the others sought the answers, they were specifically guided to the people, the places, and the situations that are presented in the movie. It was only when Abney stepped back could he recognize how amazingly accurate and specific is the Spiritual GPS. In fact, our inner guidance knows the way even when we do not. But somehow, we haven’t yet learned to uncover our Spiritual GPS, nor to trust it.
The movie’s viewers leave the film with the courage to articulate their own questions, put aside anything they may have learned, observed, or were taught that keeps them stuck.
More than anything, the movie demonstrates the theme that all the real breakthrough answers are only found from within ourselves.
“Breakthrough: A Conscious Documentary” features: Release & Integration Therapist Marianne Parisi, Coach/Facilitator/Consultant Jaimes McNeal (his life partner), and Therapist/Speaker/Coach/Author Evonne Weinhaus, and features a host of others. However, the real star of the movie is the viewer themselves. “I urge you to listen to that voice inside you that knows whatʼs true.” says Abney.
